Spokesperson for the UN Secretary Stephane Dujarric said that the United States still has to pay $491 million of its assessment.
"The U.S. has about $491 million left to pay," he said.
In October, secretary-general António Guterres has warned that the UN is facing a near-unprecedented funding crisis, as more than 50 member states have not paid their annual dues leading to a £1.3 billion black hole.
